Tycho Shlender is a pilot from one of Alderaan's mor influential families. He graduated from the Imperial Academy and was assigned to duty on a Carrack Light Cruiser that had an abnormal commander. The Carrack's commander allowed pilots to modify their ships because it kept the pilots alive longer. Tycho Shlender flew a modified TIE-Interceptor that had shields and a hyperdrive. A month after Alderaan's destruction he stole his Interceptor and defected to the Alliance. Once in the Alliance he was promoted to commander and was given command of Silver Squadron, a squadron of good but somewhat crazy pilots.

During his carrier with the Rebel Alliance he fought in many battles with his squadron, and they accounted for hundreds of downed enemy fighters and the destruction of several Imperial Star Destroyers. They used the tactic of blowing off the shield domes and the bridge with four X-Wings and the rest of the squadron shot all of their proton torpedoes into the unshielded hanger bay.

After the Battle of Endor Tycho was captured and sent to Lusankya, the dreaded prison of Ysanne Isard. He became comatose there and then he was later moved to a different prison and he escaped, shooting down several TIE's in a Lambda Shuttle.

After his escape Tycho became a bounty hunter with his ship, Alderaan's Fury, but was unsuccessful and he turned to smuggling. After gaining enough money he started a company, Shlender Shipping Inc. (SSI). He personally produced several ship designs that allowed his company to spread out further in the galaxy. These designs included a Missile Boat which looks like a X-Wing but with melded wings containing missile launchers and storage space with the lasers in the nosecone. His company later bought several competitor ship designers and producers. His company then had to defend itself from a hutt that had bought several ships but did not want to pay even half price for the ships. As a result SSI fought the hutt and killed him and most of his fleet. Tycho also helped two associates start their own companies; one took over Mechis 3's droid production and the other started Stellar Mining.

Later a second Clone War was fought with the hutt's who had been cloned and Tycho took over Ssi-ruuvi space killing the Ssi-ruuk. He then started his own government, the SSI Republic, and his company grew stronger. Tycho then sent out messages to his former comrades from Silver Squadron. He then reformed Silver Squadron, not under the New Republic but under the SSI Republic.

Tycho then went to Yavin four and was trained as a jedi. He has also constructed a lightsaber that has a bright purple-silver blade. He then fell to the dark side but was returned to the light side when he rejected it causing a massive dark side explosion that left him alive but with his spirit and body separated. He was later helped back to his body by Luke, Tionne, and the spirit of Dorsk 81. After his training he returned to the SSI Republic as it's Chief of State and Admiral of the SSI fleets. He currently wears pure white Manalorian Battle Armor because of several assassination attempts.
